The July edition of Gourmet News published recently released data from Mintel’s Global New Products Database (GNPD) highlighting the most frequent health-focused claims on packages for new food and beverage products. This data is from 2011.
- Kosher (on 27% of new products, more than twice as often than the next claim)
- All natural product
- No additives/preservatives
- Low (or no) reduced allergen
- Gluten-free
Across all categories, there are more than 20,000 new product introductions. Interestingly, “no-High Fructose Corn Syrup” was towards the bottom of the list and appeared on only 2% of product introductions.
