Kettles vs. Teapots

CIMG1234We are often asked if teapots can be put on the stove to boil water.  The answer, with very few exceptions, is a resounding No!  Kettles are for boiling water, teapots are for steeping tea by pouring the boiled water over loose tea leaves already in the teapot.  One exception is the cast-iron teapot which can be used to boil water but nowadays almost never is.  During times long ago, the cast iron teapot was used for this purpose but now, manufactured with an infuser inside, it is used just like a teapot.  Here are two we thought were exquisite.  The one on the left is in the classic hobnail design and the right is in the basket weave.  They’re at the tearoom waiting for your inspection!
