We’ve received many requests for a line of Ayurvedic Teas. Usually herbal blends, these are combinations of herbs and spices based on centuries-old Sanskrit and eastern traditions. It strives for a balance of the five great elements – Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Space. Each blend stresses a different combination of influences. We’ve already begun sampling and hope to include a few in our Tea Catalogue when we re-open. Yesterday, we gave high marks to “Pitta (Fire)” – a combination of flowers, saffron, cardamom, hibiscus, mint, tulsi and lemon, among other ingredients. Words used to describe this were “delicious”, “warming” and “smooth”.

I actually take tulsi as a daily supplement (with a standardized amount of ursolic acid, in pill form) – to fight stress, promote general well being and aid breathing. It is just anecdotal and one man’s opinion, but there is no question in my mind that this stuff actually is quite efficacious.
I would be very interested in checking out some of these Ayurvedic teas and am excited you are testing them out!
John – no question they work! We will sample you on them once we’ve made our selection.
I truly look forward to it!
